Get Up to Five



Do you want to get off the couch and get fit to run 5k? 

Is it time for you to get out there and get moving? Have you always wanted to run but there are lots of reasons that get in the way of you getting off the couch and out the door? We know that for many people this fear is real and we understand that you need a supportive, fun and achievable environment to get you up and moving. That's why we have created Get up to Five - we are here to get you running 5km. 

The best part of doing Get up to Five are the benefits you will gain in the other areas of your life; more energy, you'll put your clothes on and they will fit better, you'll feel better about yourself when you look in the mirror because you know you're making good decisions and you'll find a focus that will give you a newer, higher level of motivation.

Get up to Five is an 8 week walk/wog (walk/jog) programme. We combine this with a body weight strength circuit component to the sessions in the first half of the programme to help strengthen the parts of the body needed for running.  

The programme starts at an achievable level where you do a combination of walk/runs combined with the strength circuit, as the weeks progress we work with you to increase your walk/run ratio so that you are doing more running than walking. By the end of 8 weeks you will be running 5 kilometres.

Your 8 week programme will come in a worksheet that has a place for you to track your progress - a visual tool that helps you see your growth.

Group Training

  • There are 3 group training sessions per week, the session options are:


  • Morning Group:
    6.10am: Monday and Wednesday
    and Saturday morning 7.30am
    Evening Group:
    5.40pm: Tuesday and Thursday
    and Saturday morning 7.30am.

    The weekday sessions are held at Hagley Park, the Saturday session will be at different locations each week.


  • Our Wellington programme is morning sessions only:
    6.10am: Monday and Wednesday (Waitangi Park)
    and Saturday morning* 7.30am

    *The Saturday sessions will be at different locations each week. 

  • Duration: All sessions are up to 60mins long. In weeks 1-6 we have a body weight circuit component to the session before you do your walk/jog sets.

  • In total you will have 24 group sessions. The programme does require that you do a little bit of training by yourself but these will be the easiest sessions of the week.

  • The group runs are designed so everyone knows what is required before they start. The coaches will be there at each session to offer support, technique advice and motivation.


  • All of the sessions will be run by some of Christchurch and Wellington's top athletes/coaches. Check out our coaching team here.

  • Each week you will receive a newsletter that outlines the session details, tips, education, maps of the week's runs and inspiration.

  • We have an Introduction Seminar before we start training together. We will cover off everything you need to know before you start and is designed to help educate you and give you all the tools you need to be successful in this goal. In your final week, Coach Bevan will send you a video that includes a few things to think about going into your final run as well as looking back over the last 8 weeks and seeing how far you have come.

  • One of the best parts is the support you get from the other people training with you. You are all working towards the same goal and will have shared experiences every week. You will build some amazing relationships within this group.

Refund Policy:

If you choose to withdraw: 

If you withdraw within 4 weeks of the Get up to Five start date we will refund or credit (valid for 12 months) your money, less the week's used (or part thereof) less a $25 admin fee. Please advise us via email of your cancellation. 

If you withdraw after 5 weeks there is no refund.

If you get injured:

Hopefully not! But if you get injured during the programme (Weeks 1-5 inclusive) we will refund or credit (valid for 12 months) you for the amount you paid less the weeks you attended (or part thereof) and a $25 admin fee. From Week 6 however, there is no refund.

If you transfer to another group, there is a $25 transfer fee.
