'Such an achievable programme, I felt success every step of the way. One of the best things I have done in my life. Jo, Bevan and the whole Extra Mile Runners team are such supportive people. Just do it.'
'I didn’t know if I could do it at first but 8 weeks on I have learnt what the human body, my body is capable of through encouragement, support and advice from a great team of coaches. This time with the group is something I will treasure for some time to come'.
'What a great experience. This was my second time with Club10k, moving up to the advanced level and have found it very challenging. The track sessions are great and I newer knew I could do this. Fantastic…'
'I totally recommend Extra Mile Runners to anyone who wants to get fit, feel better about themselves, be part of a group and feel so much happier. There is a programme for everyone from Stepping Up to running half marathons. I have done it - twice with Get up to Five and now with Club10k. It does work - I can vouch for that!'
'The coaches are great, they are fun, supportive and encouraging. They provided excellent tips on technique and I learnt something new each week. I really enjoyed running as a group and meeting new people that I normally wouldn’t have. I can’t recommend it more.'
'I have found the group amazing for me. It has pushed me more that I could have pushed myself. I am setting goals for myself now in terms of running and am getting really excited about my future fitness goals. Thank you so much.'
'It made me stronger, physically and mentally. I feel fitter and have more faith in my own abilities. It has taught me that just because a “bad session” happens, it won’t necessarily happen next time. Just pitch up and try again.'
'Don't just talk about it - DO IT !! An awesome experience awaits you. Running 10km's on Saturday, I'm on the way now training for my first ever 1/2 Marathon. To the more than fantastic crew at Extra Mile Runners - Beven, Jo and Coaches Thank you for this amazing opportunity.'
'I started Club10k determined but terrified. I looked at the programme and thought there is no way i can do this but I will give it a damn good go. Day 1: 50 mins and 6ish km later I realised that maybe, just maybe this wasn't as insane as I believed. Week 5: Got compliments on my shrinking rear end and waistline and now Week 8: still terrified but know I can make 10k!'
'My goal at the beginning of this was to run 10k without stopping, I’ve done several 10k runs in the past but have always stopped to walk. I have really enjoyed running with a group who run at a similar pace to me and without their support I probably would have stopped to walk - I won’t be walking on Saturday during my final run!'
'Thank you, I could not have done this without you. Fantastic, you took me where I didn’t think I could go.'
'I signed up to Club10k to support my mum and it has been great to do this with her and see us both improve at running. Hopefully we will both be back! Thank you.'
'I really felt like I had smart, appropriate support during injury. The trainers had good advice and I knew when to tell me to seek medical help. They are great at recognising when injury isn’t fatigue or lack of motivation and will do everything they can to get you back on track. I wouldn't be afraid to do this because I feared injury.'
'I have found a great inner sense of achievement which has centred my world and given me more balance. The support by the coaches, Bevan and Jo has been inspirational and helped to give me my personal achievement - thank you!'
'I have really enjoyed all the support and motivation the 10k group has provided me. They have helped me challenge myself to do more and have given me the skills to know I can achieve my running goals. Thank you!'
'I love running! I never thought I would say those words but joining this group has enabled me to achieve the one goal I thought would be unachievable. I’m hooked now and have this awesome Extra Mile Runners crew to thank.'
'I had a dream to one day complete a marathon but I was not a runner and was not fit or active. My brother is both of those things and said if I trained I could do it. Extra Mile Runners had a programme that was achievable, timed, progressing, supportive and real. I started after getting myself active through walking and began running slowly with awesome technique tips and support from the coaches. In November I completed the Auckland marathon using Bevan’s hybrid advice to run/walk it. If you can come as far as I have in 3 months you can too! Dreams do come true if you work hard enough at it!'
'Stick to your running timetable, even if you can’t make all of the group runs - get out and do your run, it pays dividends and you’ll feel proud you did it!'
'I’ve never been a runner BUT in less that a week I’ll be running 10km for the first time in my life. 7 months ago I couldn’t run for 30 secs, now I can run for over an hour. First Get up to Five then Club10k has made an amazing change not only in my fitness but in my self-confidence. The people, the coaches, the programme have all helped me get to this point. If you are reading this and are unsure - just DO IT! Trust the process, I’ve loved it!'
'It was 30 years ago (yes 30!) that I last ran 10km. That was pretty much the last time i ran. I can’t believe that in only 16 weeks I have come from nothing to running 10km again. Thank you.'
'What I have enjoyed most about CLub10k is the positive environment that greets me at every session! Initially I was attracted to this group for fitness and to learn to run better. What I have gained is SO much more than the running! Friendship, self belief, lots of laughs and loads of encouragement. Thank you to you all for making it all possible. You guys rock!'
'I signed up for Get up to Five in August 2012 after trying unsuccessfully to get back into my running on my own. I knew I could run 5km as I had done it before but I expected the process of getting there again to be harder and more of a chore. Instead I met like-minded people who celebrate being runners and who encourage and motivate one another along the road. Your size or shape is irrelevant. No-one judges you. I went on to do Club10k which ended in Dec last year. I repeated Club10k in January and moved up to the Advanced level and now I feel strong and I am so proud of what I have achieved. The encouragement and ongoing support from all the coaches and fellow runners is invaluable. I look forward to Race Team and becoming even stronger and faster. This is such a beautiful celebration of life. Long may it continue.'
'I'm 39 and have always hated running but wanted to see what the fuss was about. I joined club 10k because my friends were all going. I was very cynical and thought I'd see how it went for a week. After the first week I was hooked.... only 1 week. It was amazing how I stuck to it because of the lovely coaches who were so encouraging, the fact that I paid for it and the great people I met running. Coffee after the Sat run was such a treat. I love Saturday Runners - it's all organised, all you do is turn up! When I told my sister in South Africa I had run 10km, she said " Who are you and what have you done with my sister?" I feel great and the mystery of running has gone and I can say I can run.... I am a runner....Thank you!.'
'The culmination of our first Club10K experience was running 10k at the Christchurch Airport Marathon. It was scary and exhilarating as we lined up with the other thousands of participants. We looked back to February when we joined Get Up to 5. We never imagined we could run 10k and now we were running one with all these other people!!! What blew us away was the support from all the people we have met through Bevan and Jo and their great business. This is our running community, these are our friends, this is our success.Thank you.'
'I'm a "never runner" who has achieved 10k. Thank you for the wisdom and encouragement to support me to overcome barriers that would have stopped me in the past. Great structure where I could regularly see my progress, feeling fitter, healthier and less stressed'
'Thank you so much to all the coaches! They are an amazing bunch of people who are so motivating and also so caring. Without the great coaching team I don't think I could have achieved what I have. Doing 10k would have been unfathomable just a few short months ago but we did it and next weekend most of us are doing the Christchurch 10k race.'
'Extremely well designed programme. Club10k lets you experience success whilst setting reasonable challenges. The shared experience of the group means we draw inspiration from each other as well as the coaches.'
'I cannot recommend this programme more highly. It has given me the motivation and strength (both physical and mental) to carry on and achieve so much more than I ever imagined. As well as gaining a healthier stronger body, I have been able to apply the goal setting to other parts of my life, both at work and at home. It has helped me to achieve a whole new outlook - and I wake up each morning and think... where am I going to run today?'
'It was amazing to build on what I have achieved with Get up to Five. Stepping up out of my comfort zone even more was harder but I was achieving more with each session which I loved. I kept growing stronger as a person which helped me see a better life for myself, this was really motivating. I ran 10k! I need running in my life now and I'm going to keep achieving big things. Climbing my mountain, one step at a time'
'Whatever your level, the support and enjoyment you get out of each session is worth being a part of acheiving your running goals.'
'For anyone that battles with inner demons. For anyone that battles with failure. Time for this to stop. This group is for you. This group, it's coaches, the programme is only sending you in one direction - SUCCESS!!! (and then you won't be able to stop, believe it or not).'
