When does RaceTeam Epic start?

RaceTeam Queenstown starts week beginning 11 September 2017. 
We will be training for the Queenstown Half Marathon which is on Saturday 18 November 2017.

What is RaceTeam?

RaceTeam is a 10 week half marathon training programme. It is designed for someone who is doing their very first half marathon or for someone wanting to achieve a PB in a half marathon. Within the RaceTeam programme there are 3 levels you can choose from: beginner, intermediate or advanced so there is a programme for all levels of runners for the goal you are wanting to achieve. 

Will I be fit enough?

Before you start RaceTeam you want to be running 8-10km comfortably and injury free.
The programme contains 1 x track session, 1 x pace session and an endurance session.

When and where will the sessions be held?

 The weekday sessions are at Hagley Park, when you register you opt to do mornings or evenings during the week:

Mornings:
Monday 6.10am - South Hagley, Netball courts
Wednesday 6.10am - South Hagley, Netball courts
Plus Saturday mornings 7.30am* - location changes week to week around Christchurch
OR
Evenings:
Tuesday 5.40pm - South Hagley, Netball courts
Thursday 5.40pm - South Hagley, Netball courts
Plus Saturday mornings 7.30am* - location changes week to week around Christchurch

+Note: During the programme there are 3 x Saturday sessions that start at 7.00am - these are your longest runs in the programme so we start you a little earlier. 

What if I have to miss some sessions?

You will get the most out of this programme if you don't miss a session, consistency is key. Particularly with this programme - it keeps progressing. We do understand that you might not be able to attend every session so as long as you feel you will be able to get to over 90% of the sessions you'll be fine. Plus we'll keep an eye on your attendance and if you miss a few we'll get in contact to check everything is ok. If you are unsure about scheduling this into your life email us and we'll let you know if we think it can work. 

How much base training should I do?

If you have a good base fitness and can run 8-10km keep that up until the start of RaceTeam. It is also a good idea to get a routine happening with your running as we find that often the hardest bit for some people is to actually get out the door and exercise regularly.  We would recommend trying to get out the door 3 times a week. How do I pay for RaceTeam?

There are 2 ways you can pay:

Option 1:

The easiest way is by credit card online via our Join Now page (link below)

RaceTeam
1) 10 week programme: A one off payment of $299 (earlybird) or $329 (standard)
2) 10 x weekly payments of $29.90 (earlybird) or $32.90 (standard)

Once you have chosen the payment method that works best for you click on the 'Buy Now' button that is under that option on the Join Now page. This will take you to our Paypal page, the world's leading online payment system store. You just then fill in your details to pay for RaceTeam.

You will receive an email from Paypal to confirm your payment. You will then be redirected to our welcome page where we ask you to fill in the fields that will ensure you will receive an email to confirm that your registration has completed. From here you have joined! You will receive emails from us letting you know everything you need to know about RaceTeam. 

Option 2:

By Direct Credit.
Email us and let us know you want to pay by direct credit and we will send you the account details and registration process. 


Is the race registration included in my registration fee?

No, RaceTeam provides the training for the half marathon, race entry is additional.
BUT the awesome race event team in Queenstown have offered our RaceTeam crew a 20% discount off your race registration. When you register for RaceTeam we will send you the details on how to take advantage of this discount - it's a win win!

Accommodation and transport?

This is your own responsibility to arrange and we recommend you get onto it early as this race is incredibly popular.
We suggest you look at booking.com or bookabach to arrange accommodation. We often find that car pools are arranged within the team and use our Facebook page to look for roomies or house share options.

IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE TO PARTICIPATE IN A PROGRAMME?

Yes, the minimum age is 16 years old for any of our Extra Mile Runners programmes. 

CAN I BRING MY DOG TO THE SESSIONS FOR A RUN?

Sorry, no. In the interest of safety for all our runners (and we get a lot of runners at each session!), please leave your fur-baby at home. We would hate it if your furry face got stepped on or our runners tripped over!

What do I need to bring to RaceTeam?

You need to bring a GPS watch, good running shoes, water, appropriate running gear, enthusiasm and energy ;o)

It's a good idea to check the weather forecast the day before the run to make sure you bring the appropriate clothing. We will be training in winter, bring gloves, hats, layers and warm clothes for before and after the sessions.

When we say "appropriate running gear" we mean good running shoes, ideally clothing with breathable fabric and warm clothes for before and after the run.  

What if it's raining? 

Rain, snow and hail does not stop us! We train in all kinds of weather. In the unlikely event we need to cancel a session due to weather we will email you and if you are unsure check our Facebook page as we will post on this page any cancellation notices too. 

What happens if I get injured or unforeseen circumstances means that I need to pull out? 

If you withdraw: 

If you cancel within 2 weeks of the RaceTeam start date we will refund your money, less the week/s used less a $25 admin fee. Please advise us in writing of your cancellation. 

If you cancel within 5 weeks of the RaceTeam start day we will refund the amount you paid less the weeks you use (or part thereof) and a $25 admin fee. For example if you withdraw during week 4 and you paid $299 you will receive $124.50 back. 

If you withdraw after 5 weeks there is no refund (we want to keep you to the programme!). 

If you get injured:

If you get injured we will refund the amount you paid less the weeks you used (or part thereof) and a $25 admin fee. For example if you got injured and had to withdraw after week 4 and you paid $299 you would receive $154.40 back. 

If you transfer to another group, there is a $25 transfer fee.
