'I started Club10k determined but terrified. I looked at the programme and thought there is no way i can do this but I will give it a damn good go. Day 1: 50 mins and 6ish km later I realised that maybe, just maybe this wasn't as insane as I believed. Week 5: Got compliments on my shrinking rear end and waistline and now Week 8: still terrified but know I can make 10k!'
'My goal at the beginning of this was to run 10k without stopping, I’ve done several 10k runs in the past but have always stopped to walk. I have really enjoyed running with a group who run at a similar pace to me and without their support I probably would have stopped to walk - I won’t be walking on Saturday during my final run!'

'I really felt like I had smart, appropriate support during injury. The trainers had good advice and I knew when to tell me to seek medical help. They are great at recognising when injury isn’t fatigue or lack of motivation and will do everything they can to get you back on track. I wouldn't be afraid to do this because I feared injury.'

'I had a dream to one day complete a marathon but I was not a runner and was not fit or active. My brother is both of those things and said if I trained I could do it. Extra Mile Runners had a programme that was achievable, timed, progressing, supportive and real. I started after getting myself active through walking and began running slowly with awesome technique tips and support from the coaches. In November I completed the Auckland marathon using Bevan’s hybrid advice to run/walk it. If you can come as far as I have in 3 months you can too! Dreams do come true if you work hard enough at it!'

'I signed up for Get up to Five in August 2012 after trying unsuccessfully to get back into my running on my own. I knew I could run 5km as I had done it before but I expected the process of getting there again to be harder and more of a chore. Instead I met like-minded people who celebrate being runners and who encourage and motivate one another along the road. Your size or shape is irrelevant. No-one judges you. I went on to do Club10k which ended in Dec last year. I repeated Club10k in January and moved up to the Advanced level and now I feel strong and I am so proud of what I have achieved. The encouragement and ongoing support from all the coaches and fellow runners is invaluable. I look forward to Race Team and becoming even stronger and faster. This is such a beautiful celebration of life. Long may it continue.'
'I'm 39 and have always hated running but wanted to see what the fuss was about. I joined club 10k because my friends were all going. I was very cynical and thought I'd see how it went for a week. After the first week I was hooked.... only 1 week. It was amazing how I stuck to it because of the lovely coaches who were so encouraging, the fact that I paid for it and the great people I met running. Coffee after the Sat run was such a treat. I love Saturday Runners - it's all organised, all you do is turn up! When I told my sister in South Africa I had run 10km, she said " Who are you and what have you done with my sister?" I feel great and the mystery of running has gone and I can say I can run.... I am a runner....Thank you!.'
'The culmination of our first Club10K experience was running 10k at the Christchurch Airport Marathon. It was scary and exhilarating as we lined up with the other thousands of participants. We looked back to February when we joined Get Up to 5. We never imagined we could run 10k and now we were running one with all these other people!!!
