When designing the programmes for Club10k we knew we had to cater for the different levels of runners we would get. For that reason we have three different programmes; Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.
The other things we considered when designing the programmes were:
1. We wanted to provide as much support as possible for all the different levels
For this reason we have three group sessions every week. These are the sessions where you will be supported by our coaches and everyone else in the group.
2. The different programmes have different requirements for all the levels
For our Beginners it's just about building in a safe way where as for our Intermedate and Advanced runners we are looking at taking your running to the next level. Here's what distances the different groups will start at:
Beginner 3-4k, Intermediate 5-6k and Advanced 8k.
3. You will need to do sessions by yourself but these will be the easier sessions during the week
We know you are going to be most motivated when you are training with the group but we also want you to do some independent work within the programme. There are two-three sessions each week (depending on your level) that you need to do on your own, these sessions are the easier ones in the programme.
4. You will need to condition your body in other ways
While the running that you do will condition your body, there is other conditioning work that will help you be successful in achieving this goal. In the week day sessions the coaches will be including drills that help strengthen your core and other important areas for running. We'll also include a good stretch at the end of the workout to look after your body.
5. We need to educate you
We touched on this in the last email but we do believe the more education that we can provide for you around how to make the training most effective, the more successful you will be.
