Will I be fit enough?

In Club10k we have 3 different programme levels.

1. Beginner programme: designed for people who are currently running 3-4k. The programme gradually builds from this point in a safe manner so you are conditioned both physically and mentally to run 10k.

2. Intermediate programme: for runners who are currently running 4-7k. We aim to work on increasing your speed while getting to 10k through improving your technique and slowly improving your intensities at an achievable pace.

3. Advanced programme: designed for people who may already be running close to or slightly over 10k. This programme is about improving your speed and going to the next level as a runner. There will be more intensity and duration in this programme.

If you feel this seems too challenging check out Get up to Five (Christchurch and Wellington) or if you want to go to the next level you may want to step up to a Half Marathon with RaceTeam (Christchurch only at this stage).

When and where will the sessions be held?

The weekday sessions are 60 mins and include a warm up, the main run section and a warm down.

The Saturday morning run begins at 7:30am. These sessions are held at different locations around the city. The weekly email we send you will outline the meeting location and route of that week's session.

What if I have to miss some sessions?

You will get the most out of this programme if you don't miss a session, however we understand that you might not be able to attend every session. As long as you feel you will be able to get to over 85% of the sessions you'll be fine. We'll keep an eye on your attendance and if you miss a few we'll get in contact to check everything is ok. If you are unsure about scheduling this into your life get in touch and we'll let you know if we think it can work.

How much base training should I do?

You should aim to have a good base and be able run around 3-4km at the start of Club10k. It is also a good idea to get a routine happening with your running as we find that often the hardest bit for some people is to actually get out the door and exercise regularly.

So we would recommend trying to get out the door 3 times a week - even for a walk, just get the body used to a routine.

Is there anyone I can talk to about Club10k?

If you want us to give you a call, email us with you details and we'll be in contact in the next 24 hours.
You can also text Bevan on 021 869 086 and he will call you back.

IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE TO PARTICIPATE IN A PROGRAMME?

Yes, the minimum age is 16 years old for any of our Extra Mile Runners programmes.

CAN I BRING MY DOG TO THE SESSIONS FOR A RUN?

Sorry, no. In the interest of safety for all our runners (and we get a lot of runners at each session!), please leave your fur-baby at home. We would hate it if your furry face got stepped on or our runners tripped over!

What do I need to bring to Club10k?

You need to bring water, appropriate running gear and yourself!

It's a good idea to check the weather forecast the day before the run to make sure you bring the appropriate clothing. Sunscreen, hats and warm clothes are essential - as we all know, Christchurch weather can be unpredictable at times.

When we say "appropriate running gear" we mean good running shoes, ideally clothing with breathable fabric and warm clothes for before and after the run. We'll send you through more information on this once you are registered.

What if it's raining?

Rain does not stop us! We train in all kinds of weather. In the unlikely event of a snow blizzard keep an eye on your email as we'll contact you that way.

What happens if I get injured or unforeseen circumstances means that I need to withdraw?

If you choose to withdraw:

If you cancel within 2 weeks of the Club10k start date we will refund your money, less the week/s used less a $25 admin fee. Please advise us in writing of your cancellation.

If you cancel within 5 weeks of the Club10k start day we will refund the amount you paid less the weeks you attended (or part thereof) and a $25 admin fee. For example if you withdraw during week 3 and you paid $269 you will receive $143.12 back. Please advise us in writing of your cancellation.

If you withdraw after 5 weeks there is no refund.

If you get injured:

If you get injured during club10k we will refund you for the amount you paid less the weeks you attended (or part thereof) and a $25 admin fee. For example if you got injured and had to withdraw after week 4 and you paid $269 you would receive $109.50 back.

If you transfer to another group, there is a $25 transfer fee.
